Product Error when trying to view items in the updated version.

Harley Quin 13 years ago updated by Kevin Lohman 13 years ago 10

Error shows as

Product Error
Unable to find information regarding item location product :(

This is with any item the new dig functionality finds.

This happened after installing the latest update 3.01 I have also tried doing a reboot of my device and no joy there either

Turns out it just need time in Apple's servers to become available :/  Working now.  You will need to close and quite the PirateWalla app and relaunch in order to get the product data.

so if we have already paid for the app we will have to pay again? or it will recognise that we already paid and wont charge us again?
I'm moving PirateWalla to an in-app purchase model so that I can make the base level free, and still continue to be somewhat exclusive about who gets to find the cool items (By charging for the item location feature I can make sure that those who have paid for this feature still have lots of cool items to find that haven't been plundered by freeloaders).  One of the reasons I want the base level of PirateWalla to be free is because I'm planning to add Game Center integration (with high scores!).  Basically the way I look at it is:

Want to compete and see your high score?  -- Free
Want an edge and the ability to find items you are missing? -- $5

Sadly, Apple left me no route to migrate my existing users to the new application ( See the explanation here:  http://blog.logichigh.com/2011/05/26/converting-applications-to-in-app-purchase/ ).

However, I plan to the best I can and offer all the new search functionality for .99 for a limited time (so that all existing users can get the feature at the cheap price), and then drop the price of the app and return the price of the item location feature to the $5 mark.

fair enough, from what i saw of the new functionality it looked cool, i liked that it just kept a list rather than showed the place once and only once. WIll it still show the spot id info that the old one showed, and lat/long when you scroll down? that stuffs handy

how does the purchase thing work, like where will it pop up, just so i can keep checking before i upgrade my phone as well (just so if the app does find something i can use the stil working app on the phone to find it :P

*hopefully* it will show up instead of the alert about not being able to find product information for item location.  My current hope is that the In App Purchase servers are just lagging behind the regular application servers.  If not I'll need to call Apple and work it out with them..

Thanks for understanding about the $1... Getting a lot of flak for that on my twitter feed... You'd think I was asking people for their firstborn :)
omg, its a buck (well 3 in my case, but thats because i am impatient so my bad) meh,

i know when the ultimate alphabet had an update that had a new purchase the purchase lagged behind, in their case was for AGES, i think a few weeks.

will keep trying it. still trying to get those uber rares.
long story made short, i am in NZ so factor in exchange rate, plus i have it on the ipad from the usa store and on my phone from the NZ store (cos that way if my nz store cant purchase i can still update via us store) so in short, bought it twice... and exchange rate means 3 :P

still cheaper than a quarter pounder :D
Kevin, I have the same issue as Harley. Please keep us updated on the progress. I like the new missing, dug, better etc directory. Looks promising.

When you get the in-app feature up and running, what can we expect to see? Have you added any new things on the spot pages?
Internet wisdom seems to be suggesting that there can be a (sometimes painfully lengthy) delay between when the App is available, and when in-app purchases are available, and the only thing I can do is send my technical help requests to Apple (via email, no phone available) and cross my fingers that it will be working soon.  I've learned from this for sure, and believe in the future that I'll make the app more gracefully handle being in the store without it's associated purchases (Perhaps for instance I could give the user the functionality if the appstore servers are not giving a valid response for the IAP)...  Will keep you updated, watch here and the twitter feed @piratewalla.
